As a dog owner, I’m not a big fan of treat toys. I would rather see Annie play with something that she has an interest in, besides food. The most play she likes involves her and someone else. That is Ok when one has time to dedicate to the dog. There must be some activity that a dog can do on their own. Unfortunately, most of those toys are food toys.
Annie has all kinds of toys, but her favourite ones are the ones listed below. They all have proven to be durable dog toys.

Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Snoop Interactive Puzzle Dog
One of the first toys I bought for Annie is the Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff treat ball. Yes, a food based Toy. When Annie first got this toy, she was too small for it. She would get frustrated because she could not get the food out. But once she figured out how to get the treats out, she loved it.
It was her favourite toy, and she spent hours playing with it. Four years later, she still has it and plays with it. Except now that Annie is four, she will bring the ball to me for a refill when the ball is empty.
The Orbee-Tuff is Non-toxic, BPA and phthalate free, and Made in the USA. This Dog toy is very durable. Annie might not be a good judge for that as she generally does not destroy toys. But a friend of ours has a Boxer that breaks toys in less than a day. But not the Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff, it still is being used three years later. This is one very durable dog toy.
Have a look at this video to get a better idea on how dogs interact with this Ball.

Outward Hound Kyjen 41001 Tail Teaser Dog Toy
We bought Annie over 2 two years ago this Outward Hound Kyjen Tail Teaser Dog Toy. We wanted something we could use to get Annie moving indoors. Annie loves to chase the furry little teasers.
Sometimes Annie decides to take just the teaser with her when we go for walks. People always laugh when they see Annie with the teaser partially hanging out of her mouth. When Annie bites on the teaser, it squeaks.
This Teaser stick is excellent for getting a dog tired very fast. It takes 10 to 15 minutes of playing with this toy for Annie to get tired and starts lying down. The small version is an excellent toy for indoors provided You have space for it. There are two versions: the short one intended for indoors, and a larger one for outdoors. I only have the short one and take it to the park. The larger would be better, but the short one does the trick as well.
Now that Annie has a torn cruciate ligament, we can’t use the stick. Annie can still take the teaser, the furry thing attached to the toy’s front when we go for a walk.

CHUCKIT Balls
Medium-Durable-Breathe-Right
The Chuckit ball is another Toy Annie likes a lot. My wife will stick bones through the ball, and Annie has to work on getting it out. Other times she puts treats in it. And of course, we use it to play some ball as well.
When you stick a bone through it, it is hard to get out. That then keeps Annie occupied for a long time. And we prefer her chewing on some lamb leg bone instead of bought treats. So it is more then just a ball for Annie when we play indoors. Outside she can run after it when we play. All Chuckit balls are very durable dog toys.

Chuckit-Medium-Whistler
One early summer morning, I was out for a walk with Annie in the park when another dog owner played with her dog. Annie is not a great ball chaser. But she was very interested in the other dog. So she ran with the other dog after the ball.
As soon the other dog was pre-occupied, Annie grabbed the ball and ran to another corner of the field, with the ball in her mouth. When I caught with Annie, and I wanted to take the ball away. She gets up and runs to the other side of the park. Because she liked that ball so much we bought one for her. The ball is over one year old now and still looks like new.
Annie usually lets me take a ball from her when we play outside. The only other ball Annie likes more is the children’s\junior Football.

Junior Football
A few years ago, I went to a field near me and found a football. It was early morning in the summer, and it was just getting light out. Annie was nuts about that ball. So I kicked it as far as I could. Annie ran after the ball like crazy. Being a football, it changes direction when it hits the ground.
Annie was fascinated with that ball. Unfortunately, she also was very fond of the strings that hold the ball together. So I had to take it from here quickly and kick the ball as far as I could again before she got to chew on the thread. We both got a workout, and it was a lot of fun for both of us.
For a while, every morning, we went to that field and played Football. In the summer months, I bring my backpack with water and treats. Playing with a Football is tiring and makes Annie very thirsty. Whenever she sees a Football, she gets excited and wants to play.
One thing to consider is the size and material of the ball. I doubt that regular Footballs are none toxic. So it is best to get a non-toxic football, which will be safer for the kids and the dog. Something like the Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Footbal, all the Planet Dog Orbee-tuft toys I have seen are very durable. You can find out more about the company at www.planetdog.com.

Conclusion
Boxers can be rough on toys, and many toys can’t withstand the abuse a dog can give them. All the durable dog toys reviewed will provide fun for a long time. Choosing a few safe and durable toys that the dog likes to play with is money well spent. In a separate post I also did a review on a dog treat puzzle that might be in interest.
